Hildesheim Marktplatz

Here is a picture I took while in Hildesheim, Germany.

Picture of the Marktplatz (market place) destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in 1990.
In 1986 the demolition of this building and the reconstruction of the Buther's Guildhouse in its original and authentic architectural style were achieved through the initiative of the citizens of Hildesheim with the active support of the City.
In order to remain true to the original planning of the building about 400 square metres of oakwood, 7,500 wood pegs in more thatn 4,300 joints were hand - wrought by carpenters in the traditional manner.
Through photogrammetrical processing of old pictures the wooden carving on the balconies and the wooden knags could be masterfully reproduced.
